MBE Ltd has extensive experience of providing structural and civil design consultancy services to assist with many forms of retaining wall.When we talk about “retaining wall” projects, we are usually referring to projects that private entities or public bodies undertake on their sites to facilitate changes to the ground profile of a sloping site, perhaps to gain space, improve access around buildings or to stabilise existing slopes.  Retaining walls are used to support the ground at slopes steeper than those at which it would be naturally stable.

Small retaining walls, typically not more than 2 m high, can provide near flat terraces on a sloping site for gardens or roads.

Our typical engagements include the diagnosing of structural defects to existing retaining walls, specifying remedial measures and the design and detailing for new mass or reinforced concrete retaining structures.  Projects usually involve creating dramatic changes in level of a couple of meters or more over very short distances.  The practice has a long record of working in a number of different sectors including healthcare, retail, leisure, industrial, education and commercial offices.

Mostly we are engaged by our clients to provide detailed designs from planning stage to completion.  And, through our experience with these projects, we are able to work effectively to collaborate with the other team members in order to integrate the structure.

Furthermore, whatever the complexity of your project, we can be engaged either as your directly retained structural engineer or be novated to work on a design and build basis.  We can work either on a time charge or fixed fee basis to suit.
